Ruth Brown always wanted to be a make up artist. In 2008 she bit
the bullet, gave up her job in the UK and travelled to the other side
of the world to retrain.
In Sydney, Ruth studied with ‘The Make-up Technicians’, the leading
training college of Professional Make-up, where she completed a
Certificate IV in Hair & Make-up.
Alongside her studies, Ruth gained valuable industry experience
assisting her tutor Felicia Yong on a variety of shoots, working across
the fields of fashion, film, television, photographic, special effects,
bridal and theatre make up as well as hair styling. While on the course,
she was thrilled to achieve second place in the ‘Sydney International
Spa & Beauty Expo’ annual make up competition.
Since graduating at the top of her class, Ruth came back to the UK
to work as a freelance make up artist. Her recent work includes
fashion, beauty, makeover and wedding shoots, some of which are
featured here.
Ruth is a highly skilled artist with a real love of colour. She has a
strong creative background in design and photography, so she really
understands the business from all angles. As with any artist, she is
constantly sourcing new inspiration for her work.
Ruth is passionate about make-up and relishes working with new people
and faces. She is currently based in London but is happy to travel.
